Fog o'clock: Pt. 2

Wakey wakey, it's fog o'clock!

Say hello to the dreaded Hamilton fog. Maybe one in four early morning starts are like this. I've yet to encounter anything more frustrating than getting out of bed at 5:30 AM and dragging yourself to the airport only to discover that you can't see more than ten feet ahead of you. Argh! Posted by Picasa

Ah, pretty... again.

Say whatever you want about Hamilton, it does have some spectacular sunsets. Posted by Picasa

This be farm country!

Never seen so much green in my life. It makes you a little bit nauseous after a while... Posted by Picasa

Ben Schmevis

Mt. Pirongia is just on my doorstep but is higher than the highest "mountain" in the U.K. By Kiwi standards this thing is just a hill, and deservedly so. When the weather is good enough i'm planning on flying down to Mt. Ruapehu which, at almost 10,000ft, is pretty damn big. The Katana could technically overfly it but i'd probably die of hypoxia. Is the picture worth it? Don't answer that... Posted by Picasa

Ah, pretty...

Everyone likes a good rainbow but not a lot of people realise that if you are airborne in the middle of a shower and the angle is just right a rainbow looks like a complete circle. I saw one the other day but didn't have my camera with me, maybe next time :'( Posted by Picasa

Overhead Lake Rotorua

I took this photograph whilst on approach into Rotorua Airport. There are some fairly famous hot springs in Rotorua and as a result the whole place stinks of rotten eggs. Not particularly conducive to good relations in the cockpit when you accuse your passenger of having dropped "the bomb" at 6000ft. Posted by Picasa
